Smith Lake Fun

This summer, we have had a great time as always at Smith Lake. Beginning with Memorial Day, we began celebrating and decorating for all the summer holidays. And we spent each one at the lake. Smack in the middle of our summer was the Fourth of July. We enjoyed fireworks over the lake as well as making a few of our own. The safe and easy kind for us, however! With Labor Day right around the corner, we are looking forward to closing out the summer with a bang!


Memorial Day also meant the end of another school year. MC celebrates by doing the Cha Cha Slide on the dock!

We also enjoy bringing our friends to the lake with us. We have been joined by the Scovilles, Betty Gayle, Crab, the McCoys, and Cole's friend, Jackson. We also love our time on the lake with our extended Tupelo "family," the Simmonses. It makes it all the more fun when surrounded by friends. Mary Conlee was so excited to find out that her teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Matthews, also has a home on the lake. We also love when Bubbe and Pop meet us at the lake. It's fun when we meet in the middle!

This summer, Momma (me) learned to ski without the "sissy bar" or trainer bar that I have used the past few years. Kneeboarding has also become another favorite water sport of mine. I am still working on the concept of slaloming! Mary Conlee also learned to ski and Cole continued to perfect his kneeboarding. So far he has refused to try the skis. Maybe next summer! As usual, Judd drove the boat. Back and forth, over and over. However, I have officially learned how to drive (as well as park) the boat. Crab and I even took it to buy gas at Duncan Bridge Marina. We just waited until we were back to tell Judd about it!

We found a quaint little restaurant with the best food near Duncan Bridge called Arley's Lighthouse. But the best part of it is getting there by boat. Cole and MC love to eat calamari while looking out at the lake. We will be sad when the boat is up for the winter. What has been a 7 minute boat ride would be 45 minutes by car. See you next summer!
